Soft afternoon light, tiny flowers and just a little pop of sunny yellow - Mimosa Afternoon is one of those gentle prints that’s incredibly easy to find a place for in your fabric stash.
Designed by French surface pattern designer and illustrator Amélie Broddes in collaboration with Deco Collections, the print features delicate sprigs of golden mimosa, tiny soft-blue flowers and scattered lemon-yellow details across a warm, creamy background.
The design was inspired by the feeling of a quiet moment in the afternoon light, giving it a relaxed, natural quality with a hint of Scandinavian simplicity.
Amélie Broddes is a Lyon-based designer known for her fresh, colourful and often floral patterns. With a background in fashion and children’s design, she creates her motifs by hand as well as digitally, with colour and carefully considered palettes playing an important role in her work.
For quilting and patchwork, the small-scale design makes Mimosa Afternoon wonderfully versatile. The creamy background keeps it light and fresh, while those little yellow and blue details add enough colour to make it interesting. It would sit beautifully amongst low-volume fabrics or provide a quiet contrast alongside stronger prints and solids.
And those tiny flowers make it a gorgeous zipper pouch lining - a pretty little surprise when you open your pouch.

Sublime Stitchery always recommends handwashing with mild, bleach-free detergent, like Soak and hang-dry all cotton fabrics for best results. If machine washing is your preferred method, we suggest using a mild, bleach-free detergent (like Soak) in cold water with similar colours on a gentle cycle. Dry on a low-heat tumble setting to minimise shrinkage.
Colours are represented as accurately as possible, however, due to differences in lighting and screen settings, colours may differ slightly between photos and the physical product.
